Celebrating a decade of service in High Point

Children’s Law Center (CLC) is thrilled to celebrate 10 years of service in the High Point community. We came together with supporters, community partners, and other champions for children to celebrate this anniversary on April 30th at the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame in Downtown High Point. Attendees included elected officials, community partners, members of the local Bar, donors, and other community members. We were able to celebrate with long time supporters as well as share our work and vision of the future with individuals that are new friends. CLC Executive Director, Iris Sunshine, delivered stirring remarks, weaving together gratitude for those that have made our work possible, reflection on the work we have accomplished to date, and excitement for what is to come. "We are grateful to all of our supporters and community partners for their dedication to CLC and the well-being of High Point’s children," she affirmed, setting the tone for the evening.

Reflecting on the original decision to expand into High Point in 2014, Sunshine thanked  the community for recognizing the need for legal advocates for children in domestic violence cases, and for engaging CLC to address the problem. She herself was appointed to the first CLC case in High Point. Since that time, CLC has continuously been serving the children of High Point.

In 2023, we once again answered the call. "In response to the need in the Guilford County and at the request of the local legal community," she explained, " We determined that we must address the needs of more children and expanded our programming to include representing the best interests of children in these high-conflict custody cases."

Sunshine emphasized CLC's unwavering commitment to positively changing the trajectory of a child's life. In addition, as CLC looks towards the future, she outlines, "We are building on our growth and continuously improving our process and services." and closed by reaffirming CLC's dedication to investing in the children of the community. "We want what you want, for every child in High Point to be safe, and to have a brighter future," she declared, inspired and hopeful for the next decade of service in High Point.

The event served as a moving reminder of CLC's commitment to the well-being of children and families in the High Point community, underscoring the organization's vital role in creating a safer and brighter future for all.
